University-approved Page Templates

The university redesigned its logo and adopted universal page design in 2007 as part of a marketing and branding initiative.

Official page templates have been approved to make it easy for web publishers to follow the styles and color schemes. Publishers should contact the university webmaster, Jim Barrett, barrett@uthscsa.edu, for information on downloading the templates.

Sample front pages: Front pages, or "landing" pages, may use a two- or three-column layout.

And 'sub' pages: "Sub" pages, which are under the "landing" page, also may follow a two- or three-column layout.

The templates rely on server-side include files so they must reside on web servers that support "active-page" scripting. These include ASP, CFM, Java, .NET and PHP.

Publishers need approval from the Office of External Affairs before publishing any redesigned web site. The office, which sponsored the marketing initiative, plans to check to assure branding integrity, said Nancy Arispe, executive director of communications.

The templates have different color schemes; one in burnt orange for general non-academic sites, and five others for the university's five schools.

Publishers have been asked to complete their conversions by Sept. 1.

"This branding strategy will be integral to our university's future success, and especially important to accomplish increased philanthropy and community awareness," the university said in 2006 when the initiative began. The Atkins Group, a public relations agency in San Antonio, designed the templates as contractor for the project.
