About CampusCam

Mounted in a glass globe (inset), the first CampusCam is above the central campus courtyard in San Antonio.
CampusCam became a feature in inside.uthscsa, the university web portal, in 2004. Starting with one camera, the CampusCam network has grown to four cameras in three cities.
The first camera, atop the seventh floor of the School of Medicine, gives a view of the entrance to the central campus at the health Science Center in San Antonio.
"People always ask 'What's the weather like outside?' because so few employees have an office with a window," said Jim Barrett, webmaster. "Here's their window."
CampusCams were added in 2006 at the Harlingen and Laredo campuses, and a fourth was added in 2008 at the Medical Arts and Research Center in San Antonio. The Harlingen camera survived Hurricane Dolly in July 2008, and sent photos of the Regional Academic Center for the duration of the Category 2 storm. Links:
