Minutes (July 27, 2005) Web Advisory Committee

Present: Thomas Anthony, Dr. Keith Krolick, Heather Cura, Dr. Raymond Palmer, Tom Raymond, Gilbert Sosa, Doug Hartzler, Mary Yanes, and Jim Barrett.

The chair, Dr. Raymond Palmer, called the meeting to order. Committee members approved the May 25 minutes.

Jim Barrett gave the webmaster's report. He said: In new business, Mr. Barrett asked the committee to review a draft of a policy that would affect outside contractors that build websites for university entities. He said the policy would allow the webmaster and chief information security officer to set minimum requirements for any web development project that is put to bid. The committee members supported the idea, but noted that projects under $25,000 do not need to go to bid, and would therefore be difficult to identify for puposes of offering guidance concerning the requirements.

In other new business, Mr. Hartzler provided a summary of plans for updating the university web portal, and the PeopleSoft applications. He said the update would take place in the fall and winter, and asked if any committee mmebers would be willing to participate in an advisory capacity or in focus groups that examine new interfaces and functions.

There was no other business, and the meeting was adjourned.
