Dr. Raymond Palmer, the chair, opened the meeting, and received approval of the April 28 minutes. Jim Barrett gave the webmaster's report. He said:- Server traffic in May rose 47 percent, to 1,330,188 page views over the same month in 2003.
- The campus calendar was launched June 29, and is linked from the university homepage.
- The campus mapping system is undergoing testing for rollout in another month.
- The clinical studies database is in production, and will have a public rollout in September.
- He attended the uPortal conference in Denver earlier in the month, and reported experiences other universities have had in implementing their portals.
In old business, the committee received an update on use of the free Google search engine and the transfer of selected sites that run inside the uthscsa.edu domain. The committee earlier had agreed to ask the web sites' owner, Dr. Borries Demeler, to move the sites to separate domains and reimburse him for costs associated with the transfer.
Mr. Barrett said Dr. Demeler, his chair, Dr. Bruce Nicholson, and Jerry York, vice president and CIO, had agreed to the plan. Mr. Barrett thanked the committee for its suggestion, and said he expects the transfer to take place before the end of the year.
There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned.
