Minutes (March 26, 2003) Web Advisory Committee

Present: Alan Miller, Tom Raymond, Dr. Ray Palmer, Sallieann Swanner, Kat Myers, Dr. Keith Krolick, Kathleen Crane, Jesse Gomez, Dr. Bob Badgett, Brian Neuenschwander, Jim Barrett

Dr. Ray Palmer opened the meeting, and received approval of the Feb. 26 minutes.

Jim Barrett presented the webmaster's report. He said: In new business, Brian Neuenschwander said a committee on which he serves would like to have a front-page link to a Health Science Center public health preparedness page. He said the content and links have yet to be decided, and that he would probably have detailed information by the time the committee meets in April. Dr. Keith Krolick asked whether a front-page link to the campus' operational status might be appropriate, and that the status page could display links to other preparedness sources. Mr. Barret said he would make a mock-up and circulate the URL to committee members.

As a second item of new business, Dr. Palmer, at the webmaster's request, gave a brief presentation about his experience in using the web to gather research information about test subjects. Dr. Palmer described how he and others have used the web to gather self-reported information from study participants. Dr. Palmer discussed the QEESI Symptom Star, and the progress in adapting it for patients to self-assess their symptoms on the web.

There being no other business, Dr. Palmer adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 30, 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the Computing Resources conference room.
