Present: Dr. Alison Beck, Heather Cura, Dr. Keith Krolick, Alan Miller, Ida Garcia, Albert Preciado, Julie Newberry, Mary Yanes, and Jim Barrett.
The chair, Dr. Alison Beck, called the meeting to order. Committee members approved the Jan. 25 minutes. Jim Barrett gave the webmaster's report. He said:- Server traffic in January rose 30 percent, to 1,814,746 page views.
- The work group on Spanish translations would meet Thursday. He said nine of 11 members had returned their questionnaires about the need for translations. Pages about patient care received the highest rankings.
- As an information item, Target had been sued for its web site by a California man who cited California accessibility law.
- He rnewed the domain registration for uthscsa.info with GoDaddy.com for six years.
The committee members renewed the discussion, and addressed several issues including the legality of exemptions, the need for web developer training, and how accessibility issues figured in long-range plans for campus technology.
Alan Miller suggested that the committee write a letter seeking answers to its questions about legal issues, enforcement, accessibility training and compliance. Dr. Beck said she would do so, and send it to Dr. John Olson, chair of the Computing Resources Committee.
There was no other business, and the meeting was adjourned.
